Christmas was fun and Dean got it a lot more this year. Santa brought him a Buzz Lightyear toy to feed the Toy Story obsession and Colby got a little tool play set. We were at my parents house and the next day packed up everything to move to Nashville. We left a few days after, so it was a real busy time for our family with Christmas and our move.
My parents and brother helped drive us up to Nashville and helped to get us unpacked and settled. We were so grateful and just after a few days we were completely unpacked and settled. The boys share a room now, which I worried about, but after a few days they were great! They love seeing each other at night and first thing in the morning. We love our new townhome, because it is our very own! Hendersonville is a nice city to live in, and we are right on the lake which is fun!
Dean has taken a little longer to feel comfortable here than the rest of us. He still is trying to find friends... we haven't had much luck with finding a friend his age yet. We love our new ward: it is filled with families our age. We felt so welcomed when we moved here! Andrew loves his internship and has built some awesome relationships! He is learning so much from his Doc and hopes to work with him after he graduates. We will see if that happens... a lot of prayer and fasting has happened to help us find the right job/fit for our family. We still don't have one secured or that we feel comfortable with, so we will see... It is a little nerve racking, especially since graduation is TWO WEEKS away!
We also celebrated the birthdays of my two favorite little boys since we have moved. Dean wanted a "blue" birthday party, so that's what we did. It broke my heart that he didn't have any friends to spend time with on his birthday, but Granny and Papa drove up to spend it with us and celebrate. We also had our friends Brad and Elle over for dinner, presents and cake and ice cream. That day, we went bowling, skating, played arcade games and enjoyed each other's company and having guests! I can't believe Dean is 3! That seems so old, and he is the best kid! He loves to help me in the kitchen, do crafts, and play character toys! He is still attached to his "cha" and is starting to become a picky eater. He loves to be outside and is so sweet to his brother (most of the time). He is a great listener and loves to be our little helper. He loves jobs and putting things together likes puzzles.
A week after Dean's birthday was Colby's first birthday!!! How is that possible?!! They change so much in the first year. He is walking around everywhere now and loves to get into trouble! He keeps me on my toes with how busy he is. Colby is the happiest kid and makes everyone around him smile. He copies everything his brother does and loves to be around him wherever he goes. Colby is our little garbage disposal and will eat just about anything you put in front of him. He loves cars and destroying anything his brother tries to build. :) For his birthday, we had a chill day because both boys weren't feeling too well. Daddy brought home some dinner and we had presents and cake and ice cream. We had a little party for him when we went to Granny and Papa's house the next weekend with some friends of ours.
After their birthdays, I always get emotional because they are growing up so fast. I want them to stay little forever! I also got extra emotional this year because I am just so grateful they have each other. They are the best buds, and I know the older they get the closer they will become. I don't know what Dean would do if he didn't have Colby around throughout the move and big change. He has an eternal friend in his brother! They need each other and love each other so much!
This month was hard for our family because it seemed like the boys were constantly sick, but it's that time of year. Dean had croup for about two weeks where we were cooped up in the house. Then Colby had a double ear infection (which we didn't even know until their doctor check up) and teething, and then Colby broke out into a rash all over his body which we don't know for sure what it was... I think it was an allergic reaction to his antibiotics... They are healthy and better now, and mom sure is happy!
We look forward to Spring and what the future holds. Sometimes Andrew and I joke about fast-forwarding a year so we can pass the decision making parts,.. but I wouldn't miss this time for anything. Our family has grown so close this last three months, and I know we were here for a reason. In two weeks we should have a better idea where we will be for the next couple of years. Wish us luck! :)
